I made this poster for a graphic design class I took while in undergrad at the University of South Carolina. Our assignment was simple: create a travel poster.
InitiallyI sketched out some ideas in my notebook and went on Pinterest for inspiration. I liked the idea of making the travel poster look like a vintage postage stamp.
I stared working in Adobe Illustrator, and quickly realized I needed to start over. I consulted my professor for help, and she helped me realize that I wanted to use the Cedars of Lebanon as my main focal point for the piece.
If you look closely, you’ll see that the tree itself is made up of of the outline of the country. Additionally, one of the shades of green is the same shade found in the Lebanese flag. The country name can be found in Arabic, and the blue color represents the coast and Mary as an ode to the country’s Catholic population.
